Tutor of the summer school “Mapping Heterotopia” by ROUNDABOUT at TU Berlin from 26. July to 13. August 2021. Together with c/o now, Atelier Fanelsa, Something Fantastic, anicoworking and me, the students rediscover the city of Berlin and collect “other spaces”: individual, heterogeneous and unconventional places that portray the diversity of the city and tempt us into reflection, also and especially about its future.

Teaching member of “On Housing the Non-Human 03 @Mäusebunker” for Bachelor and Master students SS2021 at Design Studio Brandlhuber at ETH Zürich. The Mäusebunker – a fomer animal testing laboratory in Berlin – survived its almost inevitable demolition. Now that the building got a second chance, what is its future? More in station.plus.

Teaching member of “Housing the Non-Human 02, a (show)case” for Bachelor and Master students WS2020 at Design Studio Brandlhuber at ETH Zürich. The Mäusebunker is finally closed and planned for demolition, but architects and other supporters have joined forces and started a campaign to save it. The building is our showcase – rather than a study case – for testing plausible options of multi-species co-habitation. More in station.plus.

Teaching member of “Housing the Non-Human” for Bachelor and Master students SS2020 at Design Studio Brandlhuber at ETH Zürich. How can we – humans, animals, plants – not only co-exist but co-inhabit our planet in a resourceful and circular manner? How to architect arguments for multi-species co-habitation? More in station.plus.

Teaching member of “Once Upon a Time in the Future... another past was on its way” for Bachelor and Master students WS2019 at Design Studio Brandlhuber at ETH Zürich. In the late 60s and early 70s, design had its peak as a political and transformative tool. Many of those ideas still seem relevant today – some were never realized, some didn’t make it into serial production and most are forgotten. However, what was possible then, should be even more possible now. More in station.plus.
Tutor at the summerschool “Summer Academy Tokyo Berlin” for Master students SS19 at FG HEHL Prof. Rainer Hehl at TU Berlin and at the Graduate School of Architecture Prof. Mariko Terada at the Institute for Urban Innovation of Yokohama. We explore urban left-overs in Tokyo and test the potential of the roof level to response to Berlin’s social transformation by building a 1:1 prototype of an habitable wooden roof structure within the Berliner block in collaboration with the students of HighBungaLow. More in FG HEHL website.
Teaching member of the seminar and co-editor of the resulting magazine “Types of Assembly” for M-ARCH-T Master students SS2019 at FG HEHL Prof. Rainer Hehl at TU Berlin. We produce a publication on typological investigation dedicated to the underlying mechanisms that lead to assemblies in space – collective rituals, political movements, spiritual dimensions, imaginary projections, everyday practices, etc. – and whose performative qualities unfold within the timespan of hours, years and ages. More in M-ARCH-T website.
Lecturer of the series “Gebäudekunde” – “Collective Form” and “Transformation” – for Bachelor students SS2019 at FG HEHL Prof. Rainer Hehl at TU Berlin. We open the classical categorisation of building types according to functional criteria following the teachings of Oswald Matthias Ungers, who presupposes both economic and social basic conditions as the starting point for building studies. More in FG HEHL website.
Teaching member of the design studio “HighBungaLow” for Bachelor students SS2019 at FG HEHL Prof. Rainer Hehl at TU Berlin. We design, detail and build a wood rooftop extension in the context of Berlin’s ongoing shortage of affordable housing, with special focus on the performativity of the building, starting from a roof playground. More in FG HEHL website.
Teaching member of the design studio “Architectures of Assembly” for M-ARCH-T Master students WS2018 at FG HEHL Prof. Rainer Hehl at TU Berlin. We investigate and produce spaces of assembly through the relation between spatial characteristics and performative qualities. More in M-ARCH-T website.
Teaching member of the design studio “Cutescrapers” for Master students WS2018 at FG HEHL Prof. Rainer Hehl at TU Berlin. Who doesn’t want to design a skyscraper, an awesome and imposing character showing off in the middle of the city? We don’t. More in FG HEHL website.
Teaching member of the seminar “Architectural Expression” for Master students SS2018 at FGL Prof. Mathias Müller at TU Berlin. We explore the potential of diverse medial practices not only as tool to represent spaces but also for producing them. More in FGL website.
Lecturer of the lecture series “Gebäudekunde” – “Bibliotheken” and “Wohnen” – for Bachelor students SS2018 at FGL Prof. Mathias Müller at TU Berlin. We study building types through the connections between functional and design fundamentals of spatial production. More in FGL website.
Teaching member of the design studio “Stadtfabrik 2” for Bachelor students SS2018 at FGL Prof. Mathias Müller at TU Berlin. How we can design a building in the present so its future can still remain open? We think about our designs as pre-existing structures, from particular construction methods and their potentials to produce spaces and atmospheres, towards the development of specific programmatic proposals. More in FGL website.
Teaching member of the design studio “Stadtfabrik” for Master students at FGL WS2017, Prof. Mathias Müller at TU Berlin. We establish a housing laboratory for the current development of Tempelhofer Damm, among a town hall, a library, a municipal swimming pool and a police station. More in FGL website.
Teaching member of the design studio “Tempelhof Center” for M-ARCH-T Master students WS2017 at FGL Prof. Matthias Ballestrem at TU Berlin. We establish a building laboratory for the current development of a hybrid public infrastructure in Tempelhofer Damm, including a town hall, a library, a municipal swimming pool and a police station. More in M-ARCH-T website and FGL website!
Teaching member and lecturer of the design studio and design seminar “Toilet Ideology” for Master students SS2017 at Studio Chermayeff, Prof. Sam Chermayeff at Dessau International Architecture (DIA).
